Apogon kiensis reaches 9 cm. Small Indo-Pacific cardinalfish (Apogonidae) with pink-white body with 2-3 thin longitudinal brown-black lines on flanks. Lives in schools from 3 to 25 m in caves, overhangs and under coralligenous of central and western Indo-Pacific. Nocturnal, gathers in shade by day, comes out at night to hunt zooplankton. Mouth brooding by male like all Apogonidae. Discreet macro photo subject of cave dives.
