Cantherhines sandwichiensis reaches 19 cm. Small filefish (Monacanthidae) Indo-Pacific and central tropical Pacific with compressed brown-yellow to brown-green body with scattered small white spots and dark mark on caudal peduncle, erectile dorsal spine. Lives from 1 to 40 m on coral and rocky reefs. Name sandwichiensis refers to Sandwich Islands (old Hawaii name). Dive photo subject for monacanthid enthusiasts, discreet but regular in Polynesia and Hawaii.
