Description

Alicia mirabilis reaches 50 cm with tentacles extended. Spectacular anemone with an elongated green-to-yellow column covered in large warts, long tentacles tipped with white spheres full of stinging nematocysts. Strictly nocturnal: retracts into a brown ball by day, deploys at night over seagrass and sandy-rocky bottoms. Very painful sometimes dangerous sting. Memorable encounter on Mediterranean night dives.
