Description

Alaria esculenta reaches 3 m. Cold-water brown alga, wavy frond with very visible central rib. Distribution: cold Scandinavian coasts, Iceland, boreal waters. Traditional edible, rich in iodine and vitamins. Least threatened = LC. Low-temperature species, cold-climate indicator, highly nutritious.
